Happy 4th of July!!

This 4th of July we celebrated by having a BBQ with some family and some new friends. While moving back into the house above us, Jaime's Mom happened upon their old grill, and said that she wanted to have a BBQ. I mentioned the fact that our Independence Day was coming up, and we started making plans. We decided on the menu and invited the guests.

Jaime's brother Arturo and our nephew Samuel came as well as Jaime's God Mother Nilda. I also invited an American, Eliza, and her husband, Sergio, who live about 30 minutes or so south of us. I met her through another local American friend, and had only chatted with her on-line up until today. Not only are they a really great couple, but it was so nice having a "real" American to celebrate with.

The day turned out beautiful. We started out on our patio with drinks and appetizers and then headed upstairs for the main event. We had burgers, shrimp, chicken, salad, corn, melon, chips, jello, fresh lemonade, cerveza, sangria, brownies and cookies. Everyone was stuffed by the end of the day and the boys existed on chips and salsa, cookies, brownies, jello, and fun.

All the adults hung out chatting and relaxing while the kiddos played with the hose and in the big and little pools. It was a great way to celebrate America's independence outside the States, and it seemed that everyone had a good time... minus the fireworks.

"You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence...with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness." ~ Erma Bombeck

Love the pics Tricia! Thanks for sharing. Your boys are getting so big!! How nice to be so close to Eliza and Sergio. Our family plans to drive up soon to visit with Regina & Alfredo in Navarra. Can't wait. I'm amazed how you're able to keep your blog up with twins - I haven't written in mine since March - ugh!
