"What is Christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace." ~ Agnes M. PahroActually, we just want the presents!! Okay, maybe we're just kidding, we hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with family or friends or both!! We had a lovely Christmas with some of our family here in Tenerife.
On Christmas Eve we went to Jaime's parent's along with Jaime's sister, Nuria, and her family and Jaime's God Mother, Nilda. Santa came to visit before dinner time to bring all the children their presents. Alex was terrified and Connor was very apprehensive of the "jolly" fat man. The other two children, Sofia and Nicolas, were delighted! Santa dropped off the gifts and then hurried on his way... Alex and Connor both got their first bikes (tricycles), Sofia got a couple dolls with clothes, and Nicolas received Spiderman gear. It was all so exciting, the boys refused to go to bed!!
After Santa's departure, we enjoyed a beautiful and delicious dinner prepared by Jaime's mom, and then we headed home to put our little "angels" to sleep way past their bed time.
Christmas Day we all woke up late and enjoyed a lazy morning at our place. We listened to holiday music, had breakfast, and played until nap time. Then we headed over to my MIL's and had leftovers for lunch, Jaime put the boy's bicycles together, and then we took the kiddo's out for a stroll.
Christmas only starts the holiday season here in Spain. We still have New Year's Eve which we will be hosting, and then the very important and highly anticipated arrival of Los Reyes Magos...but more on all of that as it happens.
In the meantime, we leave you with a couple of traditional Spanish Christmas songs:
Los peces en el río
Campanas de Belén
